Week 7

For this last video project, I had to skip out on the planning phase for a family event. Unfortunately it happened to be the only convenient window for the rest of the group to meet, but since I coordinated with them beforehand, they were able to assign me sections of the video recording to handle.

Since the class is so AI driven, we explored options for using AI to create video material for the visual aspects of the video, as well as looked into royalty-free videos to use. This was a fairly new process to a couple of us, while others had expertise in other aspects of video creation.

I think ultimately the work-load wasn't exactly an even split, but I think it ended up being okay--the person who ended up doing the editing and stringing the video together seemed to be genuinely interested in it and enjoy it. I will be interested to hear what they have to say in their reflection of the project.

We all contributed to creating the video, but when it comes to editing it and stitching all the pieces together, it ends up being a one person job, unless your group makes a lot of extra effort to coordinate who is going to finish what parts and by when. I don't believe that occurred to us since we didn't have a ton of time to get the video done, and we already face challenges of finding times we can all meet.

Reflecting on this week's lecture materials, I had a fun time watching the AI Ted Talk videos--they gave a wide-spectrum view of how AI has developed over the last decade or so, and the various challenges and concerns that AI engineers have had to contend with. We've talked about AI a lot in this class, and we've expressed the excitement and fears of what it means for us and our careers.

I also flipped around the Ted website to take a peak at a handful of different categories. I found a handful of videos I liked and ended up going down a little bit of a rabbit hole watching different topics. "The Dark History of the Graham Cracker" was too enticing to not watch. It gave me an appreciation for the app which is probably a better outlet to waste time than doomscrolling, so thank you!
